Deze pagina gaat verder waar het Slaaponderzoek vanaf 27 januari eindigde.

 

Dit is een logboek van mijn geluidsmetingen en slaapanalyse, op ongeveer een kilometer afstand van Windpark Rhede, uitgevoerd met twee UMIK-1 microfoons en drie verschillende slaaptrackers, te weten een Oura ring, een Fitbit smartwatch, en Sleep Cycle op mijn iPhone. Nieuw aan de logbestanden van deze pagina is dat ik ook de slaapscores van iHealth ga toevoegen (iHealth doet zelf geen metingen maar combineert de meetgegevens van de andere apps). De apps die ik gebruik hebben elk zo hun voordelen en nadelen. Zo hebben Oura en vooral Fitbit de neiging om dutjes en aanvullende slaap in de vroege ochtend over het hoofd te zien. Sleep Cycle heeft een helel praktische display, maar de app schat mijn diepe slaap véél korter in dan de andere apps. Door de apps gelijktijdig te gebruiken, hoop ik een zo nauwkeurig mogelijk beeld te krijgen van mijn slaap.

 

Eind maart en begin april 2026 gaan de gegevens vergeleken worden met de geluidsmetingen en slaapanalyse gedurende anderhalve week in de Belgische Ardennen, om te zien of de afwezigheid van infrasoon windmolengeluid tot een langere en diepere slaap leidt.

 

Om de zoveel dagen begin ik aan een nieuwe pagina om te voorkomen dat de hoeveelheid afbeeldingen te groot wordt.

De ochtend van 25 februari

 

De eN3 ("estimated deep sleep") volgens de apps:

Zoals je kunt zien is Sleep Cycle weer de meest "pessimistische". Fitbit is zoals wel vaker het meest optimistisch.

 

 

De gegevens volgens Oura, die deze nacht de tweede slaapsessie over het hoofd heeft gezien omdat deze te kort duurde en de slaap niet diep genoeg was:

De geluidsdruk (decibellen) in Z-weging tijdens de eerste slaapsessie, waarbij ik vooral geïnteresseerd ben in de roze lijn, de LZeq per minuut (hier zo'n 56 dBZ aan het begin van de nacht en zo'n 51 dBZ bij het ontwaken rond half vijf):

 

 

En de decibellen tijdens de tweede slaapsessie (in een iets andere schaal weergegeven), hier dus zo'n 52 dBZ bij het in slaap vallen en 54 dBZ bij het ontwaken:

 

 

Hieronder wat screenshots uit het spectrogram (frequenties weergegeven in Hertz, met het laagfrequente en infrasone geluid links) van deze nacht. Vanwege de lage windsnelheid is de geluidsdruk relatief laag, en begint de nacht "stil":

Wat me al een tijdje opvalt is dat mijn hartslag bij de tweede slaapsessie, nadat ik een uurtje wakker ben geweest om wat te drinken, me uit te rekken, iets te eten en/of alvast wat werk te doen op de computer, vrijwel altijd een stuk trager is.

Ik werd al erg vroeg in de ochtend wakker dus heb enkele uren later (van half tien tot twaalf uur) een dutje gedaan. Met succes: twee uur slaap, waaronder enkele minuten diepe slaap, ondanks de harde (hoorbare) wind en hogere infrasone geluidsdruk.

Om de een of andere reden heeft iHealth mijn werkdag als slaap geïnterpreteerd (ik had mijn Oura ring thuisgelaten en droeg ook geen smartwatch). De diepe slaap is goed berekend. In het logbestand hieronder zal ik voor het totaal de tijd van Oura overnemen, aangezien iHealth dat normaliter ook zelf doet.

Afgelopen nacht was mijn slaap verdeeld in twee slaapblokken. Het eerste duurde ongeveer vijf uur en het tweede iets meer dan twee uur. In beide slaapblokken vond diepe slaap plaats, al heeft Fitbit het niet geregistreerd (om die reden mijn minst favoriete app).

 

De totale eN3 volgens de apps:

Oura 43 minuten + 36 minuten = 79 minuten

Sleep Cycle 28 minuten + 19 minuten = 47 minuten

Ik was gisteravond al in de huiskamer in slaap gevallen. Ik was even gaan liggen met muziek aan, en werd twee uur later wakker. Aanvankelijk had ik niet eens door dat ik geslapen had, maar gelukkig had ik mijn Oura ring om die de slaap geregistreerd had. Ik had niet alleen geslapen maar zelfs diepe slaap gehad (met psytrance aan). Sleep Cycle en Fitbit hebben deze slaap niet kunnen registreren, dus er is dit keer een wat groter verschil in de eN3 en totale slaaptijd volgens de apps.

Gisteravond vergeten de geluidsmeters aan te zetten dus de genoteerde gegevens zijn dit keer op basis van historische data (het lokale weerbericht van gisteravond) en een geluidsmeting direct na het ontwaken.

 

Het is deze nacht flink gaan waaien, maar mijn slaap was ondanks wat onrustige momenten (de wind was duidelijk hoorbaar) toch redelijk goed. Oura registreerde 70 minuten diepe slaap en een totale slaapduur van 6 uur.
